What:
Theatre Charleston is hosting the fourth annual Unified Auditions. On April 14, 2012 dozens of Charleston's top theatre directors and producers will gather to search for actors to fill hundres of roles in the 2012-2013 season. Whether you're new to theatre or a veteran of the stage we want to see you! You must be at least 18 and an Individual Member of Theatre Charleston to audition. A limited number of audition slots will be made available to ages 16-17. All age limits apply to the day of the auditions.
The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, April 11th.
All Applications must be received by midnight on Wednesday.
**A special Unified Auditions workshop/question & answer sessions will be held March 24, 10:00-11:00am at The Charleston Acting Studio (915 Folly Rd., behind Walgreens on the corner of Camp and Folly on James Island). Details:
1. You will have 90 seconds to use at your discretion. One 90 second monologue, two shorter monologues and a monologue and a song are all common ways to use the time. Time limits will be strictly enforced.
2. An accompanist will be provided. Please have all music in the correct key and clearly marked.
3. Auditions slots will be given in the order applications are received. Each actor will be given an audition number and time slot. Actors should expect the entire process to take no more than one hour.
4. All audition applications should include a SINGLE current picture (jpeg if emailed or hard copy if mailed) OR 15 copies of your headshot and/or resume. Please do not include your resume unless you send 15 copies. Auditors will receive a copy of your audition application with either a wallet sized version of your picture (provided by Theatre Charleston) OR your audition application with a copy of your headshot and resume (copies provided by you). Headshots and resumes may also be dropped off at The Footlight Players Theatre, 20 Queen St, prior to April 6th.
5. These auditions are NOT casting sessions but are intended to give both actors and producers/directors an opportunity to see and be seen. Most theatres will use these auditions as their open call and will bring people in for call backs at a later time. Even if they have seen or worked with you before, this is a great opportunity to show them another side to your work, or to refresh their memory.
6. Participating theatres include but are not limited to Actors’ Theatre of South Carolina, Art Forms and Theatre Concepts, The College of Charleston Dept. of Theatre (Shakespeare Series), Creative Spark Center for the Arts, Deuce Theatre, The Flowertown Players, The Footlight Players, Midtown/Sheri Grace Productions, PURE Theatre, South of Broadway Theatre Company, Threshold Repertory Theatre, and The Village Playhouse.
