Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) (7:00 pm)
Part of the Piccolo Spoleto Theatre Series
About the Show
By Eric Rockwell & Joanne Bogart Directed by Jon-Michael Perry
Sometimes one musical isn't enough! Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) is a musical about musicals! In this hilarious satire of musical theatre, one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim. The basic plot: June is an ingenue who can't pay the rent and is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the handsome leading man come to the rescue? The variations are: a Rodgers & Hammerstein version, set in Kansas in August, complete with a dream ballet; a Sondheim version, featuring the landlord as a tortured artistic genius who slashes the throats of his tenants in revenge for not appreciating his work; a Jerry Herman version, as a splashy star vehicle; an Andrew Lloyd Webber version, a rock musical with themes borrowed from Puccini; and a Kander & Ebb version, set in a speakeasy in Chicago. Tickets must be purchased through Piccolo Spoleto

Greater Tuna (7:00 pm)
Part of the Piccolo Spoleto Theatre Series
About the Show
By Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Ed Howard Directed by Rob Maniscalco
Greater Tuna is the classic, quick-change comedy in which two multi-talented actors portray 20 people from "the third smallest town in Texas ... where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. Spend 24 hours with the residents of Tuna and laugh along as the zany citizens cope with the highs and lows of every day life, far removed from the big city. Written by Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Ed Howard, Greater Tuna is at once an affectionate comment on small-town, southern life and attitudes, and also a withering satire of the same. You'll see there's never a dull moment in Tuna.

Perfectly Normal People (8:00 pm)
Part of the Piccolo Spoleto Theatre Series
About the Show
By Judy Heath & Thomas Burke Heath Directed by Thomas Burke Heath
Isn't every family normal? A hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy about what happens when a college freshman from Kansas moves in with a dysfunctional Italian family from Queens! This funny and poignant memory play takes place in 1981 around the loud, but loving Normellino Family. They have survived many losses in their inner circle and often deal with their pain through biting humor and arguing. When our protagonist young Hadley Smith moves in, a transformation takes place for the naïve mid-westerner, as well as for the hurting family. Don't miss this world premiere from Charleston playwrights, Judy Heath and Thomas Burke Heath, the creators of last year's sold-out hit, The Sunset Years!
