Member of the Month is
DANIEL HALL KUHN.

When in middle school I attended a local high school production on a field trip. The range of emotion we shared as an audience fascinated me. It was such a magical experience, I knew then and there I wanted to be a part of it.
I immediately recognized theatre had the power to reach people on many levels. I am drawn to it's ability to provoke thought and to remind us our fears and joys are universal. I started acting and directing in high school and never stopped. While in high school, I performed in college and community theatre as well. After high school I was fortunate to receive performance scholarships allowing me to study acting, as well as all aspects of production, at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, and West Virginia University. After my formal training I began to produce and was a founding member of a few small theatre companies. I have lived and worked in D.C., Boston, NYC, L.A. and now Charleston. In that time I have done 30+ summerstock productions, and 16 national tours, performing Shakespeare, Poe, Twain, and other classic works across the country, as well as scattered regional theatre productions.
I have been fortunate to work on stage, in film, on television and in voice over. I was thrilled to make my Charleston stage debut as 'Larry' in South of Broadway's production of Burn This. When not acting I work as a director, designer, master carpenter or scenic painter for the stage.
2) What character have you enjoyed playing most and why?
That's a hard one. There have been so many I love for different reasons. Perhaps my most recent favorite is Tartuffe. I love a character that allows for complex psychological development and exploration.
3) Do you have any other hobbies or special interests?
I am happiest doing or teaching theatre, but also do freelance graphic design and photography. I'm most at ease outdoors and enjoy skiing, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, basically anything outdoors.
4) What are you working on now and where can we see you?
Currently, I am performing in A Tuna Christmas at The Footlight Players at 20 Queen street through December 16th.
5) Any advice to new actors in our community?
Being something of a new comer to the Charleston scene, all I can offer at this stage is just keep poking around and meeting people. Get involved where you can, and don't stop until you find your niche. Then still don't stop.
